With a classically inspired exterior and elegant interior, the internationally award-winning Cape Grace is situated on a private quay on Cape Town's vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Cape Grace's charm lies in its intimate atmosphere, contemporary classic décor and unique personalised hospitality, you will find staff warm and accommodating with a spirit of unrivalled generosity.

When Charles Brand, his wife Beth and parents Chippy and Cynthia first opened the doors of Cape Grace in December 1996, their vision was of a hotel that felt more like a good friend's home. The décor and environment needed to reflect its five star aspirations but most importantly, staff needed to relate to guests as personal hosts with warmth and enthusiasm.

“The singular excellence of the Cape Grace relies on the collective effort of individuals.
Each individual is regarded as unique and in possession of the dignity and potential
required to set this hotel amongst the world’s finest.”

Much of Cape Grace's success rests on its very unique approach to its staff, which is reflected in the genuine warmth they individually bring to their jobs. Cape Grace has built a strong culture around its mission statement above, which is grounded in the value and potential of all of its staff members. This is carried through in recruitment policies, induction training and day-to-day management of staff. When recruiting staff, Cape Grace has a policy of recruiting primarily on personality and how well the potential staff candidate reflects the core values of the business. Sought-after personality traits include genuineness and transparency, warmth and empathy, confidence, a desire to serve and a strong work ethic.

Cape Grace has been continuously awarded for its achievements as one of the best hotels in the world. FTTSA has certified Cape Grace based on its exceptional employment practices, supply chain management strategies and strong focus on staff welfare. Employees are valued as key assets, evident in the extensive training and development programmes in place and in the hotel’s policy of recognising staff excellence through service awards.
