GOOD FOOD & WINE SHOW LINE-UP

It’s going to be early rising for the celebrity chefs staying at Cape Grace as they’re all taking part at this year’s Good Food & Wine Show!  Demonstrations run from 26 to 29 May – and it’s all happening at the CTICC.

Here’s a quick run-down of what to expect:

 Samsung Chefs in Action Theatre: These 30 minute live demonstrations by chefs like Heston Blumenthal and James Martin, as well as top local names, are the highlight of the show. Learn their secrets and feel inspired! Tickets are limited and advance booking is strongly recommended.

 Get Fresh with BBC Hands-On Workshops: Get personal attention from celebrity chefs in these small group workshops and prepare the chefs’ personal recipes with the freshest, highest quality ingredients from Woolworths. Cape Grace’s Executive Chef, Malika van Reenen, will be there too, doing a demo with Michelin star chef, Atul Kochhar (of Benares Restaurant, Mayfair, London) on Friday 27 May between 15H30 – 17H00 and again on Sunday 29 May from 13H30 – 15H00. Be sure not to miss this great pair in action!

 Wine Theatre: Take a tour of the Winelands without even leaving the show and learn tips on how to choose the perfect wine from wine ambassador Vicente Traviesa – who hails from Chile’s largest winery Concha y Toro. A showcase of premium domestic and imported wines will be available for tasting and purchase at great show prices.

 Lindt Chocolate Theatre: Chocoholics won’t be able to resist the call of decadent treats and workshops being offered by Dimo Simatos – one of South Africa’s finest pastry chefs –where he’ll unlock secrets held by famous chocolatiers.

 Wellbeing Theatre: A stunning line-up of cooking demonstrations by top Winelands chefs prove that good eating doesn’t have to tip the scales. International chef Celia Brooks Brown shows how easily Meatless Monday can become part of the work week; and don’t miss performances by CBeebies’ Katy Ashworth as she incorporates loads of fun whilst teaching children the value of healthy eating. Plus, world-renowned experts like Margaret Roberts, Dr David and Sandi Nye delve into the meaning behind the phrase, “You are what you eat” and how food and drinks can relieve the symptoms of common ailments and help create balance in our lives, one meal at a time. Be sure to look out for Malika van Reenen yet again, who will single handedly be demonstrating her fantastic vegan menu on Saturday 28 May at 13H15 – 14H00 and again on the same day at 18H30 – 19H00.

 The Amarula Outdoor Experience:  From entertaining with guests to preparing a family meal with a difference, the authentic outdoor experience includes cooking demonstrations on a state-of-the-art Weber braai (barbeque), with Amarula as the anchor sponsor.

 CBeebies Little Cooks Zone: Children delight in performances by Katy Ashworth from ‘I Can Cook’.  Plus, cooking classes from Tots-n-Pots focus on healthy eating and wellness in a format that’s fun for the whole family.
