Live Design, Transform Life is Cape Town’s slogan for its year as World Design Capital 2014 and Rarity Handbags, on sale in Gifts at Cape Grace, is the embodiment of that ethos.
Founder Jackie Burge started Rarity Handbags at the beginning of 2001 with a determination to fill niche markets with elegant bags made from 100% South African sourced materials, all worked by South African hands. This she has done by using products distinctive to Africa; ostrich leather and feather, nguni, zebra and springbok skins and traditional cow leather and printed hide.
Having just won the 2013 ABSA-Cape Chamber of Commerce Small Exporter of the Year Award, Jackie knows a thing or two about selling overseas, but lucky for us, we can still purchase her beautiful handbags at Gifts at Cape Grace.
Come into our sparkling new boutique over the festive season and you’ll see colourful ostrich feather bags that will be the talking point of any party. The bright neon pinks and blue feather bags appeal to a fun loving extrovert, but in black, brown, soft grey or cream adds a touch of carefree elegance to any outfit. Princess Mary of Denmark is a fan of Rarity Handbags and has a full range of colours in the Naledi Copenhagen ostrich clutch bag, which she sported at the recent Monaco royal wedding.
We love Rarity handbags and we think you will too. Take a look at them in Gifts at Cape Grace.
