Are you one of the 35,000 people who went to Kamers vol Geskenke? Then you’ll know that walking away from this showcase of handmade products without buying something is quite impossible!
This year, the grand marquees housing hundreds of beautiful stalls were set up on the Webersburg Estate off the R44 in Stellenbosch.

Wandering around it becomes a case of “I want that and that and that…!” Last year I couldn’t resist buying a frilly, designer apron from Funky Aprons and an elephant tea-light stocking-filler from Zizamele Ceramics on the Cape Craft & Design stall.  This year it was a hand-made African handbag from Gypsy Lou and a blue and white delft-inspired mug from Michael Chandler.

The creative innovation is mind boggling and you soon have to sit down with a Queen of Tarts cupcake and a glass of bubbly to muster enough strength to enter the next marquee.

Kamers website explains their ethos: “We’re not into the perfectly made or mass produced – it’s about high end true craft, slightly imperfect, timeless and originally designed ….that something special that is only found at the show.”

Have you been to Kamers? What did you buy?
