Award winning Hotel Restaurant, Signal, with Executive Chef Malika van Reenen has done it again! With the recent Taste of Cape Town award under its belt, Signal has proven itself prestigious yet again by being named the 39th Best Hotel Restaurant in the World by respected website, The Daily Meal.
Not only has Signal been awarded the aforementioned, but in recent weeks, they have also been presented with the Amex Platinum Fine Dining Award, forming part as one of the Top 5 restaurants to receive this accolade.
Not only is this a huge achievement (and honour) for Cape Grace and Signal in itself, but also for South Africa and importantly, Cape Town (Tourism) as a whole. Malika van Reenen, Executive Chef of Signal Restaurant feels strongly and very passionately about the industry. She always aims to improve and add exciting and interesting factors when designing the Winter and Summer menus respectively. She strives to always create the menu with her personal heritage of Cape Malay as the key ‘ingredient’ to the final outcome but embraces modern cooking methods to make it current and on trend.
Of recent, Signal Restaurant has launched its Summer menu, boasting dishes such as Saffron-scented shellfish broth, grilled prawn, poached hake, mussels, fresh tomato seeds and coriander foam and Confit free pork belly, braised pig’s cheek, potato galette, apple purée, braised red cabbage, caramelised apple and ginger jus – you are sure to have a taste sensation!
With comments from guests such as, “Congratulations and Well Deserved”, “Awesome Guys – definitely deserve this” and “I have only heard good things about the restaurant” (Referring to the Daily Meal Award) we are proud of this wonderful entity within the 5-star Cape Grace. Signal is not only for in-house gests but locals wanting to have a true fine-dining experience and impeccable service!
