The Mother City Queer Project fancy dress party on Saturday 17 December 2011 is the MCQP’s 18th outrageous Christmas event to celebrate gay rights in South Africa. For Queens and other royalty, this year’s theme, ‘Maid in China’, will bring out Geisha girls and boys, hunky housemaids and oriental Ken and Barbies. Red and black will dominate, but anything goes – the more elaborate the better!
There are 9 dance floors, 3 stages and 3 experiential areas all themed in music and style, such as the Chinese carnival space with bars, rides and candyfloss, the Hot House foam dance floor, cabaret drag artist stage and a Kung Foo film studio, to name just a few.
The Mother City Queer Project raises funds for the Pride Shelter Trust, Africa’s first gay and lesbian crisis shelter.
