We are spoilt for choice when it comes to wine farms in and around Cape Town, and with the Winelands offering such beautiful settings and exquisite wines it comes as no surprise that Spice Route Winery is such a hit with local and international guests!
“Five centuries ago the ancient mariners braved uncharted seas to round the Cape in search of exotic spices. Their nerve and dash inspired Charles Back to found the Spice Route Winery in 1997.”
A few weekends ago, I visited the sought after winery, Spice Route, where I experienced – besides the 44 degrees weather – a wonderful selection of wines, phenomenal service and of course: The views in itself leaves you breathless. There’s just something about the iconic Paarl Mountains.
We were lucky enough to experience the ‘Wine Journey’ hosted by Spice Route’s Tasting Room. This offering consists of 6 Spice Route wines, including the very popular Chakalaka. (Cost: R25 per person)
The wonderful thing about Spice Route is their experience offerings, making them one of a kind in their industry, these include:
Wine & Chocolate Journey – R60 per person
A selection of four (4) Spice Route wines including Chakalaka, expertly paired with four (4) DV Artisan Chocolates. (Bookings essential).
Malabar Journey – R25 per person
This is a tasting of their flagship red blend. Tasting fee is refundable on purchase of one or more bottles.
Do yourself a favour and take a drive to Paarl for one of Spice Route’s many amazing experiences.
