Capetonians have long known that Cape Town is a special place, and sometimes the world recognises this too:
CNN International have just released their Top Ten Most Loved Cities and Cape Town is listed alongside such giants as Barcelona, New York and Paris. This is how they described their choice; “How does an unwondrously flat, 1,085-meter eminence stuck near the bottom of the civilized world pull this off? By being attached to a city so relentlessly likeable that it could get a sand castle voted onto this list if it wanted, while placing high on virtually every other popularity poll as well.”
They also mention the penguins of Boulders Beach, saying “Beaches with penguins? Can’t not love it!” And Boulders Beach features as Number 9 in the CNN list of World’s 50 best beaches and we rate it highly too in our blog of Top 5 Places to Swim.
Thanks to the travelling public TripAdvisor gave Cape Town a Travelers’ Choice Award for being a “Top Destination in the World” in 2012.
And National Geographic rated Cape Town as Number 2 in Top 10 Beach Cities, calling it “ The African capital of cool,” and shortlisted it as one of the ‘places of a lifetime’.
In a global popularity poll Table Mountain gained status as a new 7 Wonder of Nature, beating places like The Grand Canyon and the Galapagos Islands. And Cape Town was chosen to be the World Design Capital of 2014.
It may be the Feng Shui of Cape Town or its mystical energy that creates a divine design but the world is awakening to the fact that Cape Town is a top place to be!
