Hello Yellow!  If you want to show the judges of the World Design Capital 2014 just how proud you are of your city – wear yellow this week. The judges are in town for a short time only from 24-26 July and we need to impress them. That’s why Table Mountain is glowing gold under the night-time spotlight and why the city streets and even trees are sporting the sunny colour.

Cape Town has already made it into the top three in the world out of 56 hopeful cities, and stands alongside Dublin in Ireland and Bilbao in Spain in the race to earn the World Design Capital title. We are the first city in Africa to come this close to the biennial title, awarded by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) to cities dedicated to using design for social, cultural and economic development.

The winner will be announced in October 2011, but the next few days could sway the judges, so do your bit right now by downloading the yellow “I support” button and display it in any creative way you can think of.
