At the beginning of 2012 we blogged about trend forecasting based on Lidewij Edelkoort’s projections; “In a wild expression of our collective creative instincts, people will rediscover the beauty of one-of-a-kind creations made from yarn, fringe, crochet, patchwork, embroidery and hand-knit pieces.”
With this in mind we feature Abafazi luxury mohair scarves, shawls, wraps, throws, blankets bedcovers and cushions, handmade by the women of South Africa, as this month’s Artist Exposé.
Their mohair throws named “Mink” and “Blommejies” were chosen for the prestigious Trend Forecasting Forum. Abafazi were especially highlighted for using natural fibres from a renewable resource (South African mohair and merino wool), using ecologically sensitive production methods and for working in a socially responsible manner.
It is THE most influential trend setter for the whole of the Home Textile Industry worldwide and you can find some of these exquisite mohair pieces in the Cape Grace shop this month supplied to us by Imagenius.
