We are blessed with a fantastic range of theatres in Cape Town, and if you want to have a laugh here’s what’s going to put a smile on your face this month…..
- Until 5 Nov: Chickens. This winning comedy explores what happens when a seasoned journalist and young intern are on deadline to write a play. Magnet Theatre.
- Until 5 Nov Wed and Sat only: Another Friggin’Trbute Show. A non-musical comedy about the music that has shaped the life of stand-up comedian Pierre Malherbe. Kalk Bay Theatre.
- Until 17 Nov: An Audience with Pieter-Dirk EISH! In a celebration of free speech, this inimitable comedian is as irreverent and satirical as ever! The Baxter
- 2-4 Nov: Bafunny Bafunny – Rings of Fire. It’s the best line up of South African comedians all in one place. Artscape Opera House.
- 5 Nov: Alyn Adams: FREE AT LAST. This winner of the Comics’ Choice Award, treats us to some of the wittiest, silliest, most intelligent verbal comedy you’ll ever wish to hear. The Baxter Golden Arrow Studio.
- 7-24 Nov Wednesdays only: Martin Evans in “FBPK”. Comedy award winner Martin Evans tells a comical yet insightful tale, but we can’t tell you what FBPK stands for because it’s rude. Show for over 16 only. Kalk Bay Theatre

- 15-24 Nov: Casper de Vries – Vark In Hel. Close to everything is ridiculed in this piece, from aunties with cauliflower haircuts to public scandals. Nothing is off limits, so sensitive viewers; be cautioned! Artscape Opera House
- 20 Nov – 5 Jan: Marc Lottering – “I Don’t Work on Sundays”. Yes, the much loved Cape comedian with the crazy hair returns with his stand-up show after a sell-out season earlier this year. The Baxter Concert Hall.
- 24 Nov-5 Jan: Kat and the Kings. This high energy, smash-hit musical was sold out for its Cape Town run last May, so book tickets for this season straight away! The Fugard
- 28 Nov-7 Dec: Minnie & Johnson. Raucous hits from the sixties to the naughties in a wildly camp cabaret. Kalk Bay Theatre.
- Every Tuesday: Theatre Sports. Hilarious improvisation comedy where the audience decide what’s coming next. Kalk Bay Theatre.
