Top 5 Wines to drink around the fireside(recommended by Martin Drotsky Signal’s Restaurant Manager)

De Trafford Merlot 2008

Pure red berry and cherry fruit with intriguing dusty spearmint, nuts and spices, makes this an attractive bright red colour Merlot. These flavours follow through on the palate with lovely fine, dry tannins and a soft, long finish.

High Constantia Malbec 2006

This wine offers a glorious nose of cassis and black cherry fruit, tobacco-leaf and mildly minty herbaceousness, shy black pepper, anise and cinnamon-clove spice, accented by subtle notes of warm earth and leather. Smooth and supple in the mouth with ripe, velvety tannins, the vibrant, well-integrated flavours focus on black fruits, green olive, tobacco leaf and vanillin oak. The French streak in this wine is of a mile.

 Bellevue Morkel Petit Verdot 2007

It’s beautiful in an opaque purple-black colour. With chocolate, plums, lead-pencil & cedarwood on the nose. Toasted nuts and dark blackcurrent fruit on the palate. This is a complex , concentrated wine with a lingering  after taste.

Haskell Pillars Syrah 2008

Soft red colour with vibrant pink edges. The nose is very aromatic with flavour of white pepper, rose
petals, violets and rich red cherries. The pallet has a soft attack with velvety tannins and a subtle creamy
texture. Lingering aftertaste, with the same flavours as on the nose.

Napier Red Medallion 2006

Full bodied Bordeaux style blend. A rich nose of blackberries, wood shavings and sweet rose petals. Well integrated dry tannins with blackcurrant and ripe plum flavours on the palate. It has a long smooth finish with earthy undertones.
