What Fathers really want for Fathers ‘Day? Quotes from our Cape Grace Fathers

Like many countries around the world, people in South Africa do not miss the opportunity to honour fathers by celebrating Fathers’ Day. Marking the beautiful occasion, people express love and affection for their father and thank them for their great support and guidance. As a tradition, children also pamper their fathers by presenting loveable gifts like cards, flowers, neckties or any other present their father loves to receive.
As Fathers’ Day is celebrated this coming Sunday, we have asked some of our Cape Grace Fathers what they really want for Fathers’ Day & how they like to spend their day.

Cape Grace Head of Security, Ian Dennis says:  “I only want to see my daughter happy & to enjoy the time we have together. I would like to dedicate my favourite quote to my daughter as my Fathers day wish. ““They say that from the instant he lays eyes on her, a father adores his daughter. Whoever she grows up to be, she is always to him that little girl in pigtails. She makes him feel like Christmas. In exchange, he makes a secret promise not to see the awkwardness of her teenage years, the mistakes she makes or the secrets she keeps”.

Duane Crocker, Facilities Manager says he adores anything he receives from his kids on Fathers day. However his thoughts go back to spending  Father’s day with his own Father sitting out on the porch sharing a single malt whisky and a Blackstone cherry cigar.

Financial Manager, Jonathan Brenner says his Woolworths collection of Fathers’ Day socks expand every year.  “There’s no better feeling than being spoilt by my children on Fathers’ Day.  From breakfast in bed, to washing my car to unwrapping the latest edition to my sock collection. It’s a precious day! Maybe one year I wouldn’t mind suggesting going to see a good movie and taking my family to the Ice rink at Grand West.”

Food Fanatic, Cape Grace Assistant Food & Beverage Manager,  Daniel Coculescu says with great enthusiasm how much he loves Fathers’ Day. “I can’t think of anything particular I would like to receive as a gift. Just spending the day with my family and being able to be together makes the day so special. I do however get spoiled every year with delicious home baked chocolate cupcakes. “

Shawn Ferreira, Assistant Front Office Manager sits back and laughs about the question: What do Fathers really want for Fathers’ Day? “I don’t think as a Father I can want something when most of the time I am rather giving to my family than asking to receive. However a new set of golf clubs would do for all the Fathers’ Days to come. But most important is just being able to be with my family. “
