As you read this, the 2010 World Cup will be at its halfway mark, and 16 of the 32 participating teams will almost know their fate – go home or play on! Sadly enough, our own Bafana Bafana certainly found themselves up against it in the Group stages, and despite a valiant effort and the support of 50 million South Africans, they could not make it past the first phase of the tournament. In my opinion, this constitutes only a minor setback. After hearing endless reports about how South Africa could never pull off the organizing of a World Cup, I am pleased and proud to say that the scorecard so far should reflect nothing but full marks.
