Learn about the ancient and fascinating history of whisky and the art of distilling, maturing and blending with a selection of six whiskies, including single malts, blended whiskies and bourbons from around the world. A variety of light gourmet appetizers, specially selected to complement the "water of life," are also served.
Choose from one of three tastings, categorized according to the age of the whiskies - prices start at ZAR150 per person. The presentations take place in Bascule at 18h00 on various evenings throughout the week.

With a collection of over 460 whiskies from nearly every producing region including Scotland, Ireland, USA and Canada, Bascule is the ideal venue to store your whisky in private cabinets. The cabinets differ in size with holding capacities from 2 to 10 bottles and membership fees start at ZAR1 900 per annum. Engraved name plaques personalise each cabinet and will also appear on the adjacent member’s board.
Bascule Whisky Club members are entitled to a number of privileges. These include exclusive tasting evenings conducted by whisky specialists and access to the expert advice of Bascule managers and staff on purchases from Bascule’s carefully selected whisky menu. Regular communication on special events and other interesting happenings in the world of whisky is sent to all members. They also receive their own personalised cut crystal whisky tumbler. |

Bascule Vinothèque invites wine connoisseurs, private collectors and companies to store their wines in private bins in the Vinothèque’s temperature and humidity-controlled cellar. The cellar can hold over 8 000 bottles of wine in 103 bins of varying sizes from 24 to 132 bottles. Membership fees begin at ZAR2 400 per year for a 24 bottle bin.
Engraved name plaques personalise each bin and members are entitled to a number of privileges. These include access to expert knowledge on wine purchases from our sommelier, how to build up a noteworthy wine collection, ideal maturation time and the latest wine industry trends.
Members may also enjoy their wine collection in the nautically inspired and comfortably contemporary ambience of Bascule’s bar and lounge areas, or alternatively upstairs at onewaterfront restaurant – corkage for up to ten guests will not be charged. The highlight on most members’ calendars will surely be the exclusive wine tasting evenings with select wine masters. |
