Year-end Celebrations: Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner at Cape Grace

We’re counting down the weeks till 2019, and there aren’t many left! If you still need to get going on creating a beautiful year-end event to enjoy with coworkers, family, or friends; do consider one of Cape Grace’s five unique venues and tailor made packages – all of which offer the versatility to suit any festive occasion. Nestled between the yacht marina and the glittering harbour, Cape Grace is perfectly positioned to go beyond the essentials and make an occasion exceptional. So whether it’s sophisticated fun or a relaxed space for employees to unwind, the events team will make sure you end off the year on a high note, with top chefs on hand to provide impeccable culinary fare for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Let’s begin with breakfast

Did you know that Signal is open to the public for breakfast? If it’s an intimate gathering, or a one-on-one ‘thank you’ or special catch-up you’re looking for, you could do no better than a Signal breakfast spoil.

The seemingly endless buffet is laid out in full and glorious display, where attentive waitrons will help to seat you at the crisp white tables, just begging to be spread with plates of delectable eats.

Order the fresh-pressed raw juice of the day and a steaming silver pot of coffee to accompany it. Then head to the main table (more than once) to truly appreciate each and every section. You might initially choose a bowl of fresh or poached fruit topped with a dollop of yoghurt and smattering of crunchy Cape Grace homemade muesli and nuts, or try one of the little chia pots – a blend of coconut and chia seed porridge that’s also vegan friendly.

Round two should involve a trip to the savouries with a stop along the way for the baked goods. Laden with the tastiest South African cheeses, slivers of salmon, cured meats and local jams – these treats are to be spread in delight on a heavenly slice of artisanal bread, bagel, muffin or buttery croissant.

Onto the hot menu. You might feel the allure of a traditional farm style breakfast, or something a little different like the sweet corn fritter with guacamole and rashers of crispy bacon, or the pancakes with caramelised apple and smoked pork belly.

For those in search of something less meaty, the fragrant truffled, creamy mushrooms on a potato rosti is an equally strong contender, as are the flapjacks – served with unctuous mascarpone and a berry compote that’s decadently good.

Cocktails and Canapes?

Bubbly breakfasts might suit some, while others prefer an evening soiree. So sway away in either our Windward or Leeward rooms, both of which offer magnificent views of the pool terrace and beyond. Order the canape menu and pair it with some moreish cocktails (the barmen are best known for their old-fashioneds). Fresh flowers, arranged by Cape Grace’s in-house florist add the finishing touches to a glamorous social occasion.

A little more exclusivity?

Make it a sit-down event with a sumptuous private dinner (or lunch) and local wine. Head Chef, Malika van Reenen, is skilled at crafting menus to suit any occasion, all of which show off the Cape’s unique culinary heritage. Begin with a welcome drink and selection of canapes, before sitting down together to enjoy a delectable three-course meal. Let the afternoon or evening unwind at leisure, before finishing up with a selection of artisanal cheeses, and preserves.

The Windward and Leeward rooms can even be combined to cater for larger gatherings. Notably, they’re also just above the Bascule Lounge – Cape Grace’s swinging whisky bar that’s the ideal location from where to enjoy a nightcap to what that team will no doubt help to make a spectacular occasion.

Year-Round Spaces

Year-end functions are the topic du jour, but Cape Grace offers versatile spaces and packages all year round. So while social occasions might populate your November/December calendar, our Boardroom, Bascule Bar, Leeward & Windward rooms, as well as Signal Restaurant itself, are available for hosting board meetings, special birthdays, presentations, conferences, networking events, and themed parties any time of the year.

And if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, rest assured that Cape Grace’s dedicated team is on hand to ensure that every detail is precisely taken care of, for occasions that are both memorable and seamlessly coordinated. You can read more here.
