It is time to cast your vote for Cape Grace!

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are here, and we would love your vote.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are the most important awards in the travel industry, ranking the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, airlines, airports, and cruise lines in the world – and most importantly, your opinion counts.

Interestingly, the 2018 votes were all about comfort and care, a ‘less is more’ approach and understated elegance – all values we hold true to at Cape Grace.

So just what makes staying at Cape Grace an experience like no other? One that you have to experience for yourself, at least once in your lifetime?

Is it our unrivaled location on a private quay on the V&A Waterfront, with spectacular views of Table Mountain and Marina? Or is it the Cape’s colorful history, woven into our exquisite hand painted fabrics, rare antiques or peculiar chandeliers? Could it be our gastronomic dishes infused with local flavors? Or our unique selection of world-class, rare whiskies?

We believe that it’s our Cape Grace family that makes all of the difference. This is why we chose to create our award entry video with our team of staff, who have contributed their voices to the wonderful video that we will be shared above.

Thembi, Ardiel and Sam

In it, you will hear the diverse array of proudly South African accents and tones from our staff contributors: Tatiana, Jacques, Euna, Thembi, Sisonke, Ardiel, Tsidi, Moira, Jayson, Marlvin, Carike and Sam.

Tatiana, Jacques and Tsidi

These are the people behind the warmest of welcomes, and unexpected gestures that leave our guests truly touched and inspired to return – an experience in itself.

While all of our staff have their own unique stories of growth and development at Cape Grace and beyond, one particular story that we’d love to share is Euna Ngumbela’s.

Euna, Sisonke and Carike

Euna began her journey ten years ago, working as a house attendant. She showed an interest in cross-training, and a dedication to her work that sparked the interest of her manager. After crossing the hurdles of intense training, all done while raising small children, she was promoted to the switchboard – a position she held for two years. Ever more driven to improve and grow, she interviewed for a position with our guest liaison team and then took on the tremendous task of completing her Grade 12 qualification. Euna excelled and subsequently completed her Hospitality Management Senior Certificate in 2016.

Her story of growth doesn’t stop there as she was promptly promoted to junior guest liaison, guest liaison and then promoted again to cashier. She is planning to do her Diploma next!

Euna is driven by the powerful determination to provide the kind of life and opportunities for her children that her parents were not able to provide for her. “When I started here I never thought I would have the life I have today,” she added.

Euna’s story is special because it reflects our heart for growth and transformation in the lives of our staff, and the broader community. Thank you to you, our valued guests and readers, for making inspiring stories like Euna’s possible with your continued support.

The usually quiet town comes alive from June to September, when you can catch all of the …
