Signal Launches the Best Sunday Brunch

“Brunch, for me, is an extended breakfast that should be enjoyed whenever you have time properly to engage in eating.” – Yotam Ottolenghi

Ah brunch, that beautiful hybrid of everything we love about breakfast and lunch! We are thrilled to announce that we have just launched our brand new Sunday Brunch offering. A groaning buffet laden with treats, freshly shucked oysters on ice, and a hearty main, we have all of the ingredients that make brunch at Cape Grace an extra delectable affair. So saunter in mid-morning and book a table at the breakfast-come-lunch feast.

Brunch begins at 11:30, leaving plenty of time to enjoy a morning hike, dip in the ocean (for the particularly brave) or a lazy lie in as it were.

Distinct from our Breakfast offering, Brunch has a more savoury slant. Start off by selecting some of the best charcuterie and pairing it with some salty toppings, your complimentary mimosa in hand. We loved the salmon blinis and moreish little pastries. However, if the silvery oysters catch your eye, dive into those (a squeeze of lemon and a dash of Tabasco on a freshly shucked oyster is heaven in our opinion).

Of course, there are the usual (but oh-so-delicious) options we are known for, chief amongst them being our home-made granola, fruit platters, and selection of still-warm breads, ripe for spreading with a host of jams, pates, local cheeses, or our new hummus selections.

As the mid-morning segues into lunch, we encourage you to keep things fresh with a selection of salads. Beetroot-cured salmon trout is beautifully light, but we have also added a creamier Caesar salad, as well as a classic, crunchy Waldorf that might very well have you coming back for more.

On to mains! While we will continue to switch up our ordered options, breakfast-lovers and those in need of lunch will be well-catered for with a balance that might include flapjacks, pastas, fish or a steak.

We selected the fish and steak options, both of which were perfectly apportioned and just right for the time of day. The steak, served with a sunny fried egg and dollop of pepper café ole, was tender and well matched to the hearty hand-cut chips, while the pan-fried linefish rested on a bed of oozy, smoked tomato risotto that was gobbled up in minutes.

Should you wish to pair your brunch main with a glass of something exciting, our sommelier and waiters are dab-hands at selecting just the right thing (often to surprising but delightful effect).

While brunch need not be over nearly as soon as breakfast usually is, marking the end with an indulgent sweet treat is surely the only way to bring things to a close. We have you covered with an array of tartlets, little puddings, cheese platters, and baked goods.
