Dancing into a New Decade! A Reflection on 2019

As we close the doors on 2019, and welcome in a brand new decade, we are filled with gratitude for our wonderful guests.

As we have done so for nearly 25 years, we continued to welcome and spoil every guest who came through our doors. The warmth, we feel, is most evident in this TripAdvisor review, where a guest elaborates, “This was our first time staying at Cape Grace. I know it’s not going to be my last. We had exceptional service from all the staff who knew our names and were interested in our daily activities. The suggestions from the concierge were personalised, and we could not fault any of the suggestions made by Moira Mdakana.”

Ah, Moira! That was a wonderful highlight for us this year, as she received her Golden Keys (Les Clefs d’Or) after a two-year process and joined an elite society of the best concierges in the world. She certainly is a shining star, and we are lucky to have her. Read more about her marvelous achievement here.

Our Sunday Brunch Buffet

2019 also marked the successful launch of our Sunday Brunch! If you joined us for the wonderful spread of eats and lingered over bubbles, wine, a hearty main course, and more treats, we thank you. If you have yet to experience our mid-morning feast, we would love to have you and invite you to make a point of booking with us in 2020. It is a great opportunity to spend unhurried time with loved ones – something we should all do more of in an age where it has become increasingly difficult to switch off and truly connect with one another.

Our staff-led CSI Projects

While we were blessed with rain in 2019, we realise more than ever, that we need to continue to strive for sustainability in everything we do. This year, we continued to drive efforts to conserve our precious natural resources, recycle wherever we can, and sow into our surrounding communities through expanding staff-led Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects. 2020 will see us doing even more, in our commitment to being climate-conscious.

Cape Grace: Your Home away from Home

We also look forward to participating in some exciting travel trends in 2020! Space Tourism aside, we will be offering more vegan options to guests and we will continue to strive to be a sustainable travel option in Cape Town, whilst offering the highest level of luxury. As for the ‘hometel’ trend (personalised service, and unique decor that’s anything but bland), we think we have that one down pat already!

What we are toasting with this New Year’s Eve

Marlvin Gwese, our incredible Cape Grace Sommelier, is an expert in all things bubbles-related, and so who better than he to suggest our celebratory tipple for New Year’s Eve? Marlvin suggests the Charles Fox 2013 Vintage Brut Rose. Attractive, bright, well-balanced, it is made to refresh and fulfill the senses – just like a sojourn at Cape Grace would. On that note, we invite you and yours to enjoy Cape Grace in 2020. Whether it is just for a night, a few weeks, a special dinner, or afternoon tea, we would love to welcome you to your home away from home.

Cheers to a wonderful, adventure-filled 2020!

FeaturedGreat Cape Town Outdoor Activities You Can Do In Isolation
In a time when we are all encouraged to self-isolate and avoid crowds, it can be hard to maintain the momentum of physical and mental health. While there are plenty of things we have been discouraged from doing, safe outdoor recreation in the form of hikes and walks luckily is not one of them. In fact, many health officials are encouraging a bit of outdoor time, as it can be easy to maintain social distance and avoid touching surfaces …
FeaturedHomespun Restaurant Puts Tableview on Cape Town’s Culinary Map
Were you to Google ‘Fine dining in Cape Town’, Tableview would not be the first area to feature. Indeed, our foodie hotspots are mainly in the city centre, or a little further flung out in the Winelands. While Tableview might offer one of the most iconic views of Table Mountain, it had little to offer visitors on the special dinner front. Chef Matt Schreuder is changing all of that. Inspired by his several years of experience in Michelin star restaurants …
