Among the lively hum of Bascule Bar lies a collection that is more than just fine wine, it is a living story. The Cape Grace wine cellar reflects the soul of Cape Town’s vineyards, holding bottles that speak of perseverance, love, and the enduring spirit of South Africa. Each wine is a vessel of stories: of ancient farms with deep colonial roots, of bold modern innovators, and of farmers whose devotion to the land breathes life into every harvest. This cellar was envisioned not as static storage, but as an evolving narrative – a legacy to be passed down. With each carefully chosen vintage, we preserve the tales of soil, climate, and community, weaving them into the Cape Grace story. Many of the farms represented share a special connection with the hotel, with relationships rooted in trust and history.
The Collection
Today, our Wine Cellar holds treasures from South Africa’s most renowned wine regions: Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Swartland, Hermanus, and beyond. Labels such as Springfield, Alheit, Iona, Ken Forrester, Kanonkop, Uva Mira, Epicurean, Radford Dale, Raats, Avondale, Crystalum, Mullineux, Glenelly, Paul Cluver, Meerlust, Bouchard Finlayson, Atlas Swift, Beaumont, Newton Johnson, Jordan, De Torren, and Vilafonté line the racks. Although currently 50% stocked, the selection continues to grow, ensuring an ever-changing tapestry of vintages and regions.
